What could Stoops do if his players stopped being idiots?

OU freshman arrested, suspended from team
NORMAN, Okla. – Police arrested Oklahoma freshman wide receiver Ryan Broyles early Friday on an accusation that he tried to steal gasoline from a convenience store pump.
“We are aware of a matter involving Ryan Broyles,” OU coach Bob Stoops said in a statement. “Effective immediately, Ryan is suspended from the team for an indefinite period of time. I take very seriously the conduct of our players and I will not compromise my expectations for anyone associated with our program.”
On Tuesday, Stoops said that Broyles (6-0, 170) was one of three true freshmen who were “set to play” in the Sooners’ season opener at 6 p.m. Saturday against North Texas. Stoops said Tuesday that he was “pretty certain” Broyles would see some game time against the Mean Green.

What will happen: OUmight be playing North Texas, but it’ll be trying to beat Boise State in the first half.Expect a lot of pent up frustration from that FiestaBowl to come out against a ridiculously overmatched Mean Green team that won’t get a chance to see what its new offense can really do until thefourth quarter.

CFN Prediction
:
Oklahoma 52 … North Texas 7
Line: Oklahoma -41

Convenience, Security Guide Constant Upgrades At Sooners’ Stadium

When fans at Oklahoma’s season opener get ready for the popular “There’s Only One Oklahoma” introduction video, something will be noticeably different. It’ll be on two giant video screens instead of one.
A new high-definition video board was installed during the off-season in the spot above the north end zone that was once occupied by a square amber matrix board. It’s one of several upgrades at Owen Field that will get their first major test Saturday in the No. 8 Sooners’ season opener against North Texas.

Oklahoma RB Patrick recovering from sprained ankle, may play in opener

NORMAN, Okla. — Tailback Allen Patrick went through about half of Oklahoma’s practice on Wednesday and may be able to start Saturday against North Texas.

Patrick missed more than two weeks of practice and had been wearing a protective boot on his right foot while recovering from a sprained ankle.

“He said he feels better than he did when he played on it last year,” Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said. “Again, he’s getting better and we’re working him toward playing.”

Patrick, the expected replacement for star Adrian Peterson, also sprained his right ankle last season and missed two games before returning to run for 163 yards and a touchdown in the regular season finale against Oklahoma State.
