“Coach Dan Hawkins and his staff have a really good team. They have played a lot harder schedule than a lot of people. That is obvious when you are on the road at Arizona State and hosting Florida State. There are not a lot of teams willing to do that. I think they are a very tough team, and last year I thought they were one of the better defenses in our league and in the country. This team does a really good job of being a tough, physical team defensively.
“Offensively, their quarterback situation with Cody Hawkins is different from a year ago. He is much more of a threat throwing the football and they are doing that more and more. They have good running backs and they have a lot of motion. They are a very disciplined offense. Defensively, we have to handle all of their motion and be in the proper positions. We have had a lot of training for it leading into this game.

NORMAN (AP) — No. 3 Oklahoma has looked like a well-oiled machine while mowing down its first four opponents in blowout fashion. So it should be no surprise that Sooners coach Bob Stoops believes his team has been “robotic” in its approach to football so far.

“I say it in a positive and complimentary way, they’ve been really very robotic in how they’ve gone about their business and the way they’ve practiced, the way they’ve prepared, and just their attitude overall,” Stoops said Tuesday.

“He wants us to improve, and I think we are going to improve tremendously just listening to what coach Stoops said and listening to our other coaches. We’ve just got to listen and just take care of business.”

“We don’t pay attention much to what the other team’s doing or how they’re acting or stuff like that,” Murray said. “We know we have a goal to put points on the board, have fun doing it and continue to work hard.”

Norman (AP) – Oklahoma running back Chris Brown is improving after a hard hit to the head but coach Bob Stoops says he’s not sure Brown will be ready to play Saturday.

“Against Oklahoma you can’t make mistakes that you might get away with against other teams,” said Jeff Smart, a 5-foot-11, 250-pound sophomore. “The details are going to be even more important than they already are.”
Boulder — When talking about Saturday’s homecoming game against third-ranked Oklahoma, coaches could use Colorado’s new starting middle linebacker as an example of, well, playing Smart.

With LSU winning  by less than 2 TDs and Florida barely holding on against 1-2 Old Miss, it is time for the voter’s to realize what we already know.  OU is at least the no. 2 team in America….maybe No. 1 if USC stumbles again tonight.

(4) Oklahoma 62, Tulsa 21

Allen Patrick ran for 145 yards and two TDs, Sam Bradford threw two long touchdown passes to Juaquin Iglesias and the Sooners outraced Tulsa 62-21 Friday night.
The Sooners (4-0) have put up at least 50 points in all four games. That’s only the second time in school history they’ve had such a streak — they also did it in 2003, capped by a 65-13 romp over Texas.

(4) Oklahoma at Tulsa

Sooners, Tulsa bring top offenses into clash

The in-state matchup will feature two of the nation’s top four offenses, with Oklahoma (3-0) featuring a more conventional approach and Tulsa using the frenetic no-huddle scheme offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn never got to use in his days at Arkansas.
The Golden Hurricane (2-0) have averaged 559 yards — the fourth-highest mark in the nation — and last week gained 595 yards in a 55-47 shootout win against BYU. The problem has been a defense that’s given up nearly as much — 486 total yards and 184.5 on the ground per game. A fourth-quarter stand and five takeaways allowed Tulsa to overcome 694 yards allowed in a 55-47 victory against BYU last week.
Tulsa has the most potent offense the Sooners have faced so far, but the Oklahoma defense figures to provide the biggest test of the season for the Golden Hurricane.
